I have decided that from now on I will be referring to the public schooling as "Collectivist Education Camps".
Please use this phrase when discussing the public school system, especially with critics of homeschooling. It will put them on the defensive. Wouldn't that be a nice change?

Re: New Term to Use
Mon, March 29, 2004 - 3:19 AMBy all means, spread the term around. I would like to see it in wide use in the coming months. Email every homeschool family you know. Mention it on the air if you call in to talk radio.
Don't forget the derivitives:
Collectivist educators for teachers.
Collectivist education for public education
etc., etc. -

Mon, April 12, 2004 - 7:47 AMaw, but the word "collectivist" has positive connotations for me. however when combined with "camps" it loses that rosy glow.

Re: unschooling Lists
Mon, December 20, 2004 - 8:39 PMFor those of you non-religious unschoolers, I'm on a list at
groups.yahoo.com/group/fre...schoolers/
It's a completely unmoderated list (apparently there is some heavy-handed moderation on another list and this one was created from the dissent. I love it - learn a lot and also engage in some heated debate with a group of super smart ladies (mostly ladies anyway - so it goes with unschooling lists) - anyway, wanted to recommend it but I'd warn that it can get pretty fierce at times, and even trolls aren't kicked off unless they personally attack and won't listen to reason - so if you come to this party - come with your claws intact.
